In-service Workshops
Mining Matters works with teachers to increase the overall presence of quality Earth science education within in the classroom. By offering teacher workshops, in-service professional development opportunities are made available to teachers across the country.
Workshops are centred around Mining Matters Earth Science Resource Kits. Designed by teachers for teachers, Mining Matters resource kits meet regional Earth science and geography curriculum expectations, bringing relevant, accurate Earth science programs to the classroom. These kits provide teachers with up-to-date fact sheets, background information, and rock and mineral samples for use in their classrooms. The kits, when combined with a half-day (3 hours) to full-day (5 hours) workshop, gives teachers the confidence to be the classroom experts in Canadian Earth sciences. Workshops are available to be hosted by a school board, teacher organization, or can be made available at a special event like a convention or conference. Workshops can be arranged accommodating up to 24 teachers anywhere in Canada with at least four weeks prior notice. For an outline of the workshops available

The board’s curriculum coordinator, their designate, or the teacher organization must arrange the details of the workshop, including the following:
- Confirming the workshop date and location
- Determining the number of teachers attending
- Handling all payments
